Hello Kengkawan. Hello Dianians. Hello fans (konon famous lah sgt)

Here i am again to update on our recent shows, namely Heritage Fest. As you all have known, we were spread throughout the heartlands this year and our performances were mainly at Suntec City, Centrepoint and Northpoint.

We had our Zapin Dian and Bergending Dang Dong repertoire over at Suntec City. The cast were none other than Abang Yazid, Abang Izwan, Hady and Taufeeq. For the girls we had Izzah, Iffah, Sha and Cipah. Meletop2 mata dorang tau!
Of course we had our throng of fans mainly from the Dian family but hey you cannot deny the crowd that day from the onlookers and shoppers. Some even came to sit throughout the whole show! :) Happy happy lar.

Then almost all Dianians were hit with the flu bug. Many were sick, though non as scary as H1N1, thank god. Amin. We're all in the pink of health now :)

Over at Centrepoint Runway, we had our Sarong dance to showcase the Sarong and many of its' unique uses. We had Izzah Kecik and Aishah to join Ayu Kecik, Alijah, Ama, Haney, Farhana and Alya this time round.

Last but of course not the least, we had a dance entitled Harvest at Northpoint specially choreographed by Abg Izwan himself :) We had Cipah, Marina, Ama, Farhana and Sha to dance on this one. Loving the Tudung Saji already :)

Okaylah, awak semua tau kan the last time kiter ader performance. Pat National Library pulak tu. Gerek sey! World Alliance Day, and saya ni sebok2 lah turon training dorang. Wah bertungkus lumus dorang belajar ragam semua, lagi2 si Kak Izzah kiter. Hari itu ader jugak supporters kiter. Loyal fans lah konon! Okay tanpa buang masa lagik, ini lah dier gambar2 busok dorang! Okaylah okaylah, lawa lah! Meletop letop! Lagik2 mata Taufeeq yg tertutop tu! Hehe.

As the red curtains rolled acknowledging the end of the show, one cannot help but feel that slight tinge of sadness despite the overwhelming success that was building up inside every single one of the dancers. Sad because it finally came to an end, something all of us were looking forward to ever since training for the production commenced.

Nadi was just but a dream initially, from our resident choreographer, Abdul Yazid Juhuri. With that dream, he shared with us and allowed each one of us dancers to dream as well. It took courage and determination from him to actually make his dream happened, and with that we all followed suit. This is what I truly learned during Nadi’s production. Dream, courage and determination. Through all this, came the dying need to actually perform and show what I’ve been taught to do. To actually make the production a success.

Each time the clock strikes signaling the start of Nadi’s training almost every week, each dancers including myself seek to get their moves right, and with every muscled stretch to follow that hand and leg movement bend into the desired position, it symbolizes our dream, courage and determination too. You then realize you are not doing this alone, and that all the 32 strong dancers are doing exactly the same thing. Then that’s where teamwork came through and friendship was molded.

As the date of the production drew closer, a sense of urgency clouded most nights of the trainings. All of us were to put if any, differences aside and come together towards our ultimate goal. There was no room to crack under the pressure and if some did, eventually we would all come together as a group to overcome it.

13th February and all the guests came to witness the coming together of a group of dancers showing their passion and inviting the rest of the audience to come as one and dream together with them. The months of hard work, determination and courage didn’t go to waste. The show ended with positive feedbacks and the crew and dancers, ultimately pleased with themselves. A dream finally came true that night.

JIKA objektif pementasan yang ingin mempamerkan bakat-bakat penari muda dalam ciptaan gerak tari, ia memenuhi sasaran.

Malam Jaluran Seni 2008 (MJS) anjuran Perkumpulan Seni Singapura (PS) pada Sabtu lalu di Pusat Budaya Politeknik Republic memenuhi jangkaan memperkenalkan koreografer tari muda.
Bakat Noramin dan Mohd Yazid dijangka menjadi pelapis yang boleh dipertanggungjawabkan meneruskan perjuangan jurutari mapan seperti pasangan bersaudara, Mohd Kamal dan Mohd Kamel Ridzuan serta Ramlan Rasidi.

Lebih membanggakan, penulis tersenyum puas melihat lebih daripada 70 aktivis tari remaja berhimpun di sebuah pentas untuk mempamerkan bakat yang digilap menerusi berpuluh sesi latihan sejak empat bulan lalu. Ini isyarat positif bagi PS meneruskan aktiviti untuk memangkinkan suasana seni setempat.

Kesan keseluruhan menonton MJS tidak menghampakan. Ada kemantapan di segi teknikal seperti kesan penataan cahaya yang lebih terperinci.
Syabas kerana PS kian menitikberatkan aspek penting ini, selain penataan muzik yang menghangatkan pementasan MJS pimpinan Qamar Baba. Kini, peranan pemain muzik di Gendrum bukan lagi sebagai kumpulan iringan sahaja.

Koreografer Noramin tampak selesa dengan koreografi Zapin Perpaduan yang melambangkan perpaduan ragam, kostum dan penghafalan tari. Satu oleh Mohd Yazid pula mengandungi banyak ragam tari kontemporari yang banyak duplikasi dan arah yang kurang jelas.

Jurutari mapan, Mohd Kamal Ridzuan, pula tiada masalah menyampaikan mesej dalam kreasi tari beliau, Gelombang Bertingkah Raga Melimpah, yang menggabungkan gerak tari asas disenyawakan dengan ragam tari eksperimental berdasarkan daripada pergerakan tubuh manusia.

Aktivis seni yang menonton pementasan MJS akan berasa puas jika kesemua pujian ini digabungkan. Namun MJS tetap ada kelemahan.
Penulis amati hampir keseluruhan anak tari bimbingan ketiga-tiga jurutari mapan ini kurang emosi - aspek penekanan ekspresi muka semasa menari agak longgar.
Di pentas besar seperti ini, mereka perlu kuat stamina untuk terus berlegar dan beraksi. Mereka banyak menghafal ragam tari daripada menghayati setiap pergerakan yang diolah jurutari.

Kesannya - kurang menyerlah kerana gerak tari hanya menjadi hiasan semata tanpa pengkhususan.

Penulis tertarik dengan seorang anak tari wanita yang meskipun tubuhnya berisi sedikit tetapi lebih menyerlah lentik dan lenggoknya daripada anak tari yang bertubuh langsing.
MJS lebih menghiburkan kerana adegan selingan (extra turn) lakonan Atuk (Ramlan Rasidi) dan Manja (Fadhilah Samsudin) yang menyelit unsur humor bagaimana sesuatu gerak asas tari diilhamkan sehingga mengundang hilai ketawa daripada penonton.

DIAN Dancers Performance for World Dance Alliance Dance Day 2008 was held at Singapore National Library. Many were impressed with our perfromance although we are new to the industry. We would like to thank a few people for their contributions to the group namely, Rizal, Rizal Busu, Maimunah and Shiqin. Thanks for the support that u all had given us. We appreciate each one of u.
